Florence is also well-known as the "Cradle of the Renaissance." Its works of architecture and its sumptuous noble palaces, even the less famous, have contributed to render Florence
and its urban aspect, unique and unparalleled. For this reason, the
"cradle of the Renaissance", the new home of the artistic
taste that soon conquered the
whole world, is considered one of the most culturally important cities of the
world, so that the historical center of Florence has been declared "world
Heritage" by UNESCO.
This means that the city is rich
in historic monuments and buildings that absolutely must be preserved so that future
generations could admire them freely, and be enchanted just as happens to
Florentines and visitors now.
Among the most important places and monuments
in Florence
there are:
1. Palazzo Vecchio. It’s one of the most appreciated palaces by Florentines
and represents a “physical memory”
of a past marked by wars of power and the rich and influential families that
affect the city's history in a
decisive manner. Besides interesting
and picturesque architecture,
which dominates the cityscape in a particular manner, it houses important works of art.
2. Piazzale Michelangelo. This is
a rooftop terrace that allows visitors to enjoy the the most beautiful and
evocative view of all Florence.
The Square is so named because of the presence of numerous reproductions of Michelangelo’s works
which are installed here.
3. Piazza della Signoria. It’s
the most beautiful and famous square
of Florence. Here, where
there is Palazzo Vecchio, tooke place a lot of events which determined its
history.
4. Ponte Vecchio. A destination not to be
missed during a visit to the town of Florence.
The Bridge crosses the Arno
River and it is also
