Discovering Florence


Florence is also well-known as the "Cradle of the Renaissance." Its works of architecture and its sumptuous noble palaces, even the less famous, have contributed to render Florence and its urban aspect, unique and unparalleled. For this reason, the "cradle of the Renaissance", the new home of the artistic taste that soon conquered the whole world, is considered one of the most culturally important cities of the world, so that the historical center of Florence has been declared "world Heritage" by UNESCO.
This means that the city is rich in historic monuments and buildings that absolutely must be preserved so that future generations could admire them freely,  and be enchanted just as happens to Florentines and visitors now.


Among the most important places and monuments in Florence there are:

1. Palazzo Vecchio. It’s one of the most appreciated palaces by Florentines and represents a “physical memory” of a past marked by wars of power and the rich and influential families that affect the city's history in a decisive manner. Besides interesting and picturesque architecture, which dominates the cityscape in a particular manner, it houses important works of art.

2. Piazzale Michelangelo. This is a rooftop terrace that allows visitors to enjoy the the most beautiful and evocative view of all Florence. The Square is so named because of the presence of  numerous reproductions of Michelangelo’s works which are installed here.

3. Piazza della Signoria. It’s the most beautiful and famous square of Florence. Here, where there is Palazzo Vecchio, tooke place a lot of events which determined its history.

4. Ponte Vecchio. A destination not to be missed during a visit to the town of Florence. The Bridge crosses the Arno River and it is also famous to be “the way of the goldsmiths”.

5. Piazza della Repubblica. Among shops, small cafes and street artists, Republic Square stands out as one of Florence's most vital and characteristic urban spaces of the city.
